1. Introduction: Why QC Matters For Tungsten Carbide
Bad carbide quality cannot be fixed after delivery. Hidden pores, unstable hardness or out-of-tolerance size will lead to short service life or sudden breakage at your customer’s site. Inside our workshop, we run multi-layer quality control from raw powder to finished goods, not only final sampling check.
2. Raw Material Incoming Inspection
- Check tungsten powder and cobalt powder particle size, purity and batch certificate
- Reject raw material batch that does not meet grade specification
- Separate different powder batches to avoid mixing
3. In-process QC During Pressing & Sintering
We check green blank weight and density after compaction. Sintering temperature and holding time are recorded for every furnace batch. Random samples are taken out after sintering to test hardness and check for internal crack by visual or microscope screening. Any abnormal furnace batch will be isolated immediately.
4. Post Machining Inspection: Dimension, Hardness & Surface
After grinding, EDM or polishing, inspectors measure critical dimensions with micrometer, optical comparator or CMM. Hardness test is sampled to guarantee the target HRA range. Surface inspection checks scratch, chipping, burn mark and black oxide residue on edges and functional surfaces.
5. Final Full Inspection Before Packing
| Inspection Item | Standard | Tool |
|---|---|---|
| Key dimension | Within drawing tolerance | Micrometer / CMM |
| Hardness | Match carbide grade requirement | Rockwell Hardness Tester |
| Surface & edge | No chipping, crack, obvious scratch | Microscope |
6. QC Record & Inspection Report Support
We keep batch production records for traceability. If you need, we can provide inspection report with dimension data and hardness test result for your incoming quality control. This is widely required by industrial buyers for carbide cutting tools and mining wear parts.
7. Summary: Layered QC Avoids Batch Defect
Good carbide quality is controlled in every workshop stage, not only final inspection. Stable incoming material, monitored sintering and strict machining check help us reduce defect rate and keep consistent performance for your carbide parts.
