1. Introduction: Drawing is The First Step of Carbide Customization
Every custom tungsten carbide component starts with your engineering drawing. Many buyers only focus on the final price, ignoring the matching between drawing requirements and carbide production characteristics. At Rleey, our whole production line is built to convert your 2D drawings or 3D STEP files into finished carbide parts. This article walks you through our complete manufacturing practice.
2. Step 1: Drawing Review & Technical Confirmation
- Our engineers check dimensions, tolerance, chamfer, surface roughness and assembly requirements
- Mark risky areas that are hard to achieve by carbide sintering and grinding
- Confirm suitable carbide grade according to the application you provide
- Send back technical feedback before quotation and sample making
3. Step 2: Material Batching, Compaction and Sintering
After drawing confirmation, we prepare tungsten powder and cobalt powder according to the selected grade. The powder mixture is pressed into green compacts by mould or CNC pressing. Then the green blanks go through high-temperature sintering. Sintering shrinkage is strictly calculated in advance to guarantee final dimension accuracy.
4. Step 3: Precision Machining, Edge Treatment & Surface Finishing
Sintered carbide blanks are hard and brittle. We use diamond grinding, wire EDM and laser cutting to reach target tolerance. Edge honing, sharp edge or chamfer will be processed as agreed. Surface polishing or sandblasting is finished in this stage to meet your surface specification.
5. Step 4: Inspection, Packing & Shipment
- Dimension test by micrometer, optical comparator or CMM for critical tolerance
- Hardness test and visual check for cracks, pores and scratches
- Issue inspection report if required
- Anti-collision packing for brittle carbide parts
6. Case Example: A Custom Carbide Wear Block Project
One industrial client sent STEP file for carbide wear blocks used in mining equipment. Our engineer found one tight tolerance on non-matching surface and suggested relaxation. After confirmation, we finished sintering and grinding, and delivered samples within agreed lead time. Mass production passed on-site wear test smoothly.
7. Summary: Stable Production Starts With Clear Drawing Communication
The whole production chain from drawing to finished carbide parts needs close technical alignment. Clear drawings, reasonable tolerance and confirmed grade help us deliver stable, repeatable carbide parts. If you have custom carbide projects, send your drawing to us for professional review.
